Gates participated in the National Juried "Barns and Farms" exhibition supporting the traveling Smithsonian exhibition. Her Painting "Apple Cobbler" was chosen for the exhibit. It was held at the Barnsite Gallery in Kenawannee, from June 6 through July 18. Seventy Artists were Juried in out of five hundred entries. Craig Blietz and Gregg Luginbuhl were the selection Jurors. Joseph Mendez , Awards Juror gave Gates first place in oils and pastels.
